joobb will not install

I am using joomla 1.5.7
I am trying to install editor bb_07.1 and com_joobb_07.6

when I try to load, according to the documentation, I get two errors. When I try to access the joobb administrator, I get a
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in administrator/components/com_joobb/views/user.php on line 401.


When I try to access the bulletin board from within my website i get an error: /components/com_joobb/helpers/joobb.php on line 543

any help out there? I would like to use an earlier version of joobb but all that's available for download is bb_07.6

Hi Gerry,

I'm sure you are running php 4.x.x! I hope you have the possibility to change to 5.x.x, because Joo!BB uses some specific functions of it.

An earlier version is absolutely not recommended, because of many improvements and compatibility to Joomla 1.5.7. It is also not recommended to run Joomla version lower than 1.5.7.

thanks. I'll check that out. I've tried a couple other discussion boards but none of them are as smooth as joo!BB.

It worked

i was running php 5. i deleted and restore php 5 and reloaded joobb. It works great.
