Post Let unregistered users write in surtain forums

Hi again guys!
This is not as critical as my last topic with the editor, but I still want to solve it.

I have different forums, some general, and some I have made private and only for registered users.

my problem this time is that ie Tip / Feedback to the board, I want unregistered users to also post in this section. I've set the VIEW, READ, and POST to ALL, but when I hit the NEW TOPIC button nothing happens. It says I dont have the right permissions.

Is it possible there is a setting in Joomla I have failed to change?

Also - How do I let people upload attachements and pictures?? I cant find anything about it. Do I have to install a module for that?

Again guys! You are great. Love this forum

Re: Let unregistered users write in surtain forums

This may take Robbie to input on, but I doubt that "all" is meant to mean anyone or public, un-registered users, as all posts have User ID as part of the database structure and I believe it is a necessary field. So unless he designed it to default to a "anonymous" type of ID registration when not logged in, it may not be possible.

My suggestion is to make all user register to post and make them "registered" users, then make the next level of user "private" to keep them out of the stuff the public can't see.

Do you need more than 1 elevated group of users? I'm not certain if you can add to that or not, again a Robbie issue as I haven't tested any of this stuff myself so maybe someone else has.

That's my best guess and knowledge of the database structure.

I'm not so sure that this is broken as there is a backend setting under configuration, "enable attachments" but it is not working on this forum and I don't think my production one either.

yeah .. maybe you're right. That they need an ID. I really don't know, but the reason I'm asking is when I configured the board it kind of says ALL, and let unregistered users just type in a guest name.

So i think it should work, but yet again, I'm really a noob when it comes to databases and how they work.

Upload - Well, in the configuration file I've set it to allow, but it wont even show when i write a message. If it doesn't work, ok, that will probably be fixed, but with me it doesn't even show if you know what I mean?

Soldier,

hmmm... permissions should work fine now. But I will check it.

Attachment uploads will be available in Version 0.9.2.

Thx. It's nice to read you like it. Smile

Regards,
Robbie

Thank you very much. Looking forward to it.

It may be something wrong with my files, because I had to change something in two of the files to get post icon to be horizontal, and not vertical.

Same problem here.
Partial solution is to let edit posts to all, but then everybody can edit everything Sad Smile

But now it seems very doable to change it in componont code. if only i could do that...
