Post Nothing to do with JOO!BB

Hello from Ontario

I found your BB yesterday when I was doing a search for a GUI Bulletin Board.

I wandered around and was impressed with the look of it.

As it was written in joomla I did a search and found the Joomla homepage and found out that I could download a server to run on my home machine and the Joomla program to play with.

The tutorial that comes with it is walking me through making my first web page and is very easy to follow and play with.

My question is this .

Can someone direct me ( a total newbie to Joomla )to any resoroces for newbies .

Welcome to the family! You may have alredy found this but the Joomla Extension at http://extensions.joomla.org/ and the joomla forum at http://forum.joomla.org/ are great.

These are the two most useful sites that I used to learn the CMS. I had only lightly programmed webpages previous to starting to use Joomla to do this for me. There are many more skilled coders that you will run across here, but Joomla is not that difficult, although keeping your personal server up to date as Mysql and PHP updates come down is a little more challenging.

Also, Google was my best friend as I learned.

Thanks Jeff
I actully found that this morning but I do appeciate the come back.

My experence with programming anything comes from 20 years ago when I used to program in basic and dBase III .

I have made a pretty simple attemp at a web page a while back but just didnt have the interest at that time ..

I am unemployed at the moment looking for work , ( go figure huh , just like all the other people in the USA and Canada ) . Anyway I have time to learn something so I might as well learn Joomla.

If your interested and have the time to spare, Id appreciaste having someone to chat with and help me learn this program.

Garry

I'm not an expert by any means, but you can email me and I will give you my best opinion. How far up into Ontario are you as I'm in Buffalo myself?
