Security breach/bots
Post Security breach/bots
by freds on 02/08/2010 06:01

After 12 months of using JooBB we now are getting malicious posts added to our FORUM, which actually lives in a secure pw protected site.

We are seeing posts for:

gibbrish, like "kj234lkh089sdfhj/isodfi9"
or "Get ringtones" or "Buy Vgra"

These seem to be posted under a "guest" account.

How do we prevent these unwanted posts from happening please?

THANKS!

freds,

do you use the current version (0.9.2)?

do you use the original joomla registration? We got the same problem on joobb.org opening joomla registration.

On this way... many thanks to Jeff managing all the unwanted stuff. Smile

Do you allow posts by guest users?

Fred,

In the JooBB, do you have the "enable guest name" set to "No". Also there is a guest time setting although mine is set to the original default, I would set that to "0" if you don't want to allow guests.

How do you log-in? I don't use the Joomla login as I use Community Builder and require admin approval and I'm not having any issues. I do every now and then get submissions for membership that I deny though.

Jeff
