I would think by default that I, as super admin, would be able to do whatever to a post... I cannot do anything, so I'm wondering if I did something perhaps on the setting end that disabled me from this while I was setting up the forums.
Please tell me exactly where I need to look to make sure I am set up, and maybe I am doing something wrong because I've tried a couple of things to change this.. and have been seriously unsuccessful.
I appreciate any help I can get
Thank you!
Sorry.. can't delete, can't edit, can't do anything but post.
I've just had to go in and start deleting users for their postings, and in turn, it leaves their post and just turns their username to guest.
Ok.. I'm noticing something else here... I thought maybe this was an issue with the migration I did.. maybe it is, I don't know, but all users seem to have been synched.
I went in to try and create a new admin account, thinking that something happened in the migration with my account... I clicked new in the user section, and it let me fill in everything but the passwords.. it is greyed out and won't let me do anything there.. however, if I go into the users section... it lets me edit everything for already in place users including passwords..
Any ideas?
I don't know off-hand about your admin account creation. What other "community" do you run on your site if any such as Community Builder, etc ??
Each individual forum can have custom permissions set. You find these under JooBB > Board then click on the forum that you want to adjust the permissions on.
You will see there user levels for each different permission option. Verify your user settings and as long as you are a higher user than the setting, you should have access to the specific function such as edit, lock, ect.
In many of mine, I set permissions to private then I have no issues as I'm an administrator which is a higher level than private.

Yes.. I have set each forum individually while setting up my board, and I went in before posting in here to check and make sure these were set properly.
I have also made some adjustments in the Joo!CM, and some of these settings do not seem to take, such as user profile, I disabled this and played with a couple of other things just to test and see how they worked... It seems to ignore, but still shows a message above the profile when I click on profile that the profile has been disabled.
The other things I do have set up are sobi2 and acajoom.. the latest version on the acajoom, which does also synch users.. is this possibly my problem?
Acajoom was installed, a previous version was installed when I installed Joo!BB, and then I just, a couple of days ago installed the latest version of acajoom.
Thank you!
I seriously don't know what I'm doing wrong
I have gone through all the documentation, revisited all of the set up procedures, everything seems to be how it should be on the backend, I just can't seem to edit anything.. no edit, no delete, nothing.
Another thing that I want to find out is if someone knows the most logical way to set up registration on my joomla now that I have joo!BB installed.
I would prefer for people to go only in 1 direction, whether that is through joomla, or Joo!BB. In one, they have the captcha, in the other, there is not. I just installed another captcha for my regular joomla page so that I don't have only 1 component blocking unwanted registrations, but I feel like I might just be adding another problem to the mix as well.
In one of my other posts in here, I was having problems with synching my users to Joo!BB. This has been fixed by completely removing the board, and reinstalling it fresh, so I don't think that the install went bad.
I'm just so flustered. I have no idea why I'm not seeing any of this, and if it does have anything to do with a conflicting component, sure wish I could nail it down already.
Sorry for my rant
Ok... I fixed my permission issue.
What I found, and maybe this happens by default, maybe in the migration process, Joo!BB didn't recognize me as administrator, I was set to Registered.
Why I didn't check this before all of this, I have NO idea... I'm an idiot.
Anyhow, now I am just back to the last question I had in my last post:
What is the best way for me to combine registrations so I don't have one through joomla and then another through Joo!BB. I understand that either way the users will be synched, but I would prefer to have one with captcha for everyone.
Thank you for your time
I don't know how to tell you what is the "Best Way", I can only say that I run Community Builder for my site access and it synchronizes nicely with the JooCM and JooBB products and does it all for me. I had it installed before I put in JooBB so I can't say its the best, but it works for me.
Jeff
brigarkee,
first of all... Thx for using/testing Joo!CM/BB.
Nice to read you already fixed your problem.
Normally there is no problem with other Joomla components and Joo!CM.
It's up to you to choose your preferred registration. You can use the Joo!CM or the Joomla way. I would prefer Joo!CM because it's more secure than "others" and you have the possibility to use "terms of agreement" if you like.
If you decide to use "other" way, please have a look at the documentation page and read chapters "Interface Manager" and "Link Manager".
