Performance on web and Joo!BB/Joo!CM

I found an interesting article on the internet: Performance with Joomla. I know, it's german. Sorry for this. Maybe someone else can post an english article here?!

I made many changes for the release candidate 1.0.0 Phobos RC1 because I'm sure speed will become important at the internet next.

The reason I'm asking this question is, I made different experience in last time...

My page seems not to be the fastest at the internet. The avarage time loading a page at joobb.org is 4 sec. As long as I'm clicking at Joo!BB links, I got results not over 1.5 sec per page and at Joo!CM not more than 2 sec. Everything seems to be OK so far, but this values are made at home. I also tried it at my office (the internet is much faster there!) and the results were slower (up to 2x) than those at home?! I'm a little bit confused. Is it possible, that the power of a PC can be decisive? Does anybody else made any experiance in this area?
