Never mind. I found the problem. It must be some compatibility problem with joomfish. After I uninstalled joomfish joomla stopped working. I had to delete every joomfish files and now it's working.
My forum was working fine and I haven't changed anything. Today I tried to open the forum and for some reason is not loading. Do I need to update anything? I'm using MAMP in order to use the localhost. Any idea why this would be happening? Thanks!
Now I know why I was getting the white screen of death!
When I installed joo!bb I was running out of memory. In MAMP, php.ini for PHP5 often needs to be edited because it is set to only 8MB by default, leading to white screen of death. It is found here (using Terminal or iTerm):
vi /Applications/MAMP/conf/php5/php.ini
Simple fix: Go to the MAMP/conf/php5/php.ini. Open the php.ini file with a text editor and find the part that says "memory_limit = 8M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (8MB)" and change it to "memory_limit = 128M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (128MB)". Then you must restart MAMP. If that doesn't help try increasing the memory until the installation of the component goes through. This is why I couldn't access joo!bb component! Thanks everyone.

Ok... before I noticed your reply I tried to install XAMP instead. It didn't work so I tried to put MAMP back. Now nothing works and MAMP does not connect if I use apache port 80 / 3306. I tried to install MAMP again and I think NOW I really screwed up everything. I gave up and wanted to reinstall everything but MAMP is not even working because it can't connect to port 80. How can I open these ports that were being used before? I have a mac... I know, I know... STUPID!!!!!
Hi Robie,
Sorry for adding a new topic. I wasn't sure if you would read the last message on the other topic.
I tried everything... installed, re-installed but no luck. I tried to go to joo!bb
http://......./administrator/index.php?option=com_joobb&task=joobb_usersync_view
but I still get the white screen of death!
I think I'm having a problem installing the component because right after I install the component I get this complete white screen. When I entered the address for the admin panel the same thing happened, all white.
I made sure to install the two most recent files for the editor and component. The forum works but I get no joo!bb tool options. I am able to edit the profile but there is nothing that allows me to manage my forum. The only options I have is change time, name etc.. Please, I need help.

Hi Robbie,
Thanks again for your help! With a support like this who needs manuals? I will try to follow the steps you suggested.
Marcio
Thank you so much Robbie, very helpful explanation. I will try these steps tonight.
PS: I get a completly blank screen, no errors. The forum seems to work, I guess I just needed to synchronize my admin. Once I do that I will be able to moderate my forum.
Just one last question,
Does it matter which link I use for the menu? When I created a menu item then linked to the joo!bb type I noticed a lot of different options. Do I need to login to my site and then login to joo!bb? I really think most of my questions will be asnwered tonight but if you have some spare time let me know what you think. I am a newbie but despite my silly questions I am in this road to stay!
Thanks again!
Good job and thank you for allowing us to use this software.
Sincerely,
Marcio
Thanks for the info. I will try this tonight.
Now, how am I supposed to know that? Is there a manual showing how to use Joo!bb?
How do I synchronize users?
When I created the menu for forum I linked to the front page of the forum, not the forum login because I don't want to login twice. Anyone? Is this correct?
PLEASE HELP!
Ok, I screwed up somewhere!
Joomla 1.5
Using MAMP for local host.
Using a mac.
From Joomla website:
"unzip the editor package archive - copy the file en-GB.plg_editors-bb_joobb.ini from
\editors-bb\language\site\ to JOOMLA_ROOT/language/en-GB/
VERY IMPORTANT
After installing the editor you will need to edit and save it once. Otherwise you will get an error because the params are not set. I apologize for the inconvenience, because of no Update to current version!
"
I installed the component and the editor.
Instructions on the web told me to edit and save. How do I do that?
Also, I was told to copy a file to the Joomla Root. Is this the same as copying the file into the language folder in the sites folder?
Here are some of the problems I'm having:
When I click on the component (backend) I get a blank screen.
In the front end, I am able to see the forum but I don't have any administrator/moderator rights.
I am helping my German class for free to create a site so we can interact and help each other. I would really appreciate any help. I'm sure these questions are silly and I might be missing something simple in order to complete the installation but I need help at this moment.
Thanks a lot!
Marcio
