What is Joo!CM?
It stands for Joomla! Community Manager. As I mentioned it for the first time, many people though it is yet another tool like Community Builder. No, it isn’t. Yes, it has an integrated Profile and Avatar Management, but it’s for those people who don’t need other tools like CB.
The idea behind Joo!CM is very simple. Nowadays every social component communicates with any other. So in the end there is a complex construct of interfaces. Why don’t use only one system which can handle all the interface stuff? First of all, the administration would become easier. Imagine that you can create a generic link to other component once, and any other component will use it. On the other hand, as a developer you just want to show the avatar on a page of your component. But witch one? You need to develop an interface to CB, CBE, JoomSocial… (and many more). Wouldn’t it be easier to call one function witch retrieves you the right one avatar? Yes! It would. And this is Joo!CM.
